Last Tuesday, August 13th 2013 was Chaparral’s 49th Annual Dealer Meeting. This year it was held in beautiful Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. The venue gorgeous, the weather was cooperative and everyone was in good spirits.
Chaparral president Jim Lane kicked off the meeting with a touching presentation on the culture within Chaparral Boats. Chaparral is a big company that has retained their family-owned-and-operated feel. The people who work at their facilities located in Nashville, GA are lifelong employees and often span across several generations. There is a sense of pride and loyalty in the work that these valued team members bring to the table.
Jim Lane is a charming speaker. Along with Mr Lane, Chaparral founder Buck Pegg was also on board to present the brand-new line of Chaparral Jet Boats called the Vortex, powered by Rotax, whose rep also kept the audience in stitches with his low-key, witty humor.
Other highlights from the meeting included presentations from Chaparral Top Dealers, in which they shared some of the secrets to their success, and the President’s Panel. During the Top Dealer presentations the one thing that was evident is that the common thread among these dealers is having a quality product backed by a strong company and genuine concern for customer satisfaction. These two things are the key to becoming a Top Chaparral Dealer. We are proud to say that InterMarine was among those awarded with that honor.
After the meeting, it was time to get on the water and test drive some boats! We test drove the ALL-NEW Chaparral 307 SSX, the 216 SSi, the brand-new 21 H20, and the 2014 Chaparral 327 SSX. All these boats handled beautifully. InterMarine VP Patrick Galipeau insisted that everyone try docking the 327 using the Axius system. Axius controls the outdrives in a way that makes sense and it truly does make a difference in how this boat handles.
We were equally impressed with the 216 SSi which was roomy, stable, and very fun to drive. We found that the throttle controls were “perfect”, not too smooth and not too tight and the motor relatively quiet.
The 21 H20 is an addition to the H20 line which was introduced in 2012. They started out with two size models, 18′ and 19′, and two packages for each size: Sport and Ski & Fish. They are keeping those two packages and adding the 21′ to the lineup.
Overall, the Chaparral Dealer Meeting was a complete success. It was exciting to see the tremendous growth and innovation coming from Chaparral, and we are proud to be one of their Top Dealers. With their quality product in our showroom and our team’s commitment to superior customer service, we hope to share in that same explosive growth in the years to come.
