The new 2014 Prestige 450S is coming our way — Follow along!

Follow the trajectory of this beautiful and unique yacht as it makes its way on a ship from northern France over to our sunny South Florida shores.

The 2014 Prestige is truly a unique yacht in that it follows the layout of the larger 500 and 550 Prestige yachts.

In the past, this size-range model had a less fluid layout and access to the Master Stateroom was through a common entry off the salon. Not so in the new Prestige 450. Following in the footsteps of the hugely popular 500 models, this yacht features completely separate, private access to the Master stateroom between the galley and the salon. Speaking of which, the galley and the salon are together as in the larger models, allowing for better organic fluidity within the yacht. No more separating the cook from the rest of the guests!

Layout of the new 2014 Prestige 450S

The new 2014 Prestige 450S features a fluid layout found in larger vessels.

Another great feature of this line of yachts is that the second stateroom has a “scissors” style berth, meaning that it can either be pushed together or pulled apart to create either one large berth or two smaller ones. Therefore this stateroom can be converted into a bunk-style room for traveling friends, siblings, and the like, or turned into a more romantic couple’s stateroom.

The fit-and-finish of the 450S and 450 Fly also falls in line with the larger 500 and 550 models. True to Prestige’s vision of elegance and simplicity, the interior lines and decor are clean and neat, avoiding unnecessary flashiness in favor of a more practical yet beautiful minimalist look.

Regarding its performance, we have not yet had the pleasure of driving the 450S ourselves, but Captain Steve Larivee from BoatTest.com drove the Flybridge model. He had this to say regarding her handling (for reference, the test model had twin Volvo Penta IPS600 diesel engines, same as our boat. This means the horsepower is proportional to the vessel size, making it more efficient):

As for handling, the 450 Fly is a very graceful performer. We had winds blowing 15-20 mph across the Med which produced some rolling seas and it was a surprisingly comfortable ride. We would cut through the seas with little fuss and took the rollers at cruise speed with little fanfare. Regardless of the direction we rode these swells in, the 450 remained comfortable throughout.

All in all, this yacht offers a lot of the same features and finishes as a larger yacht, but at a lower price. And because Prestige has figured out how to make a beautiful, elegant yacht without the unnecessary fluff, they manage to keep their entire line of yachts truly affordable in comparison to the rest.

Keep track of this beauty and come see her live at the 2013 Fort Lauderdale Boat show this coming October 31 through November 4, 2013. In the meantime, have a virtual tour and enjoy!
